Normally when driving past houses you can tell if the house has been foreclosed on because the outside of the house is unkempt.  Meaning that the grass hasn't been cut and there are weeds in the flower beds etc.  If it happens to be a house that you are interested in buying there will most likely be a number you can call in the yard somewhere or on the door, or mailbox. 

There are many ways you can find foreclosed houses in Ohio, you can either go online and look it up or there are numbers that radio commercials give out that will give you listings on foreclosed houses in your area.  But the best way is look online, there are many sites that specialize on foreclosed homes in Ohio and any other state for that matter. 

But when looking to buy a house that has been foreclosed on make sure you get it inspected by someone that inspects houses.  That way they can tell you whether the house needs a lot of work or not, and they can also tell you things about the structure of the home.  That way you know for sure what you are getting yourself into.  The inspections usually come after you have put a bid in on the house, and after the bank accepts the bid or counter bids.  Don't worry though you still have a period of time where you can walk away without suffering a penalty.
